GENERAL SUMMARY
Support the hospital departments by transporting patients and equipment to various destinations within the facility safely, efficiently, and with the utmost customer service to improve patient throughput and increase patient and staff satisfaction. Transporting patients involves the safe use of wheelchairs, stretchers, wagons, and hospital beds where training is provided and competency validated.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Prioritizes exceptional customer service with strong communication skills and conducts self in a professional manner at all times.
* Receives relevant patient information from caregiver prior to transport.
* Transports patients to scheduled destinations using safe transfer techniques.
* Ensures receiving area is aware of patient's arrival.
* Follows all infection prevention and control procedures including proper transports for patients on isolation.
* Appropriately disinfects patient transport equipment after use and deposits used linen in receptacles.
* Removes and reports broken patient transport equipment for proper follow up.
* Accurately uses the patient transport software to appropriately accept and complete patient transport requests as well as document delays.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
* None Required.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
* High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
* Previous work experience in a hospital setting preferred.
* Previous work experience with pediatrics preferred.
* Use of computer to include handheld devices is required.
* CPR Training required and/or obtained within 45 days of hire.
* Capable of successfully completing duties without constant supervision.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Expected to work in a patient care environment with minimal exposure to environmental hazards such as, but not limited to, excessive noise, dust, or extremes in temperatures. Exposure to communicable diseases and moderately adverse working conditions found in the healthcare setting can be expected.
