Job Summary
We're seeking qualified applicants for substitute After-School Leader positions with the County After School Activities (CASA) program and Youth After-School (YAS) program. CASA and YAS are highly respected after-school programs serving Loudoun County's elementary and middle school-aged youth for over 30 years. Our team celebrates diversity, whether cultural, linguistic or ability related to ensure every child feels welcome, respected and included. An After-School Leader assists in the planning and implementation of recreational activities such as indoor and outdoor games, arts and crafts, holiday-themed and special projects, as well as quieter activities like snacks and homework time for children. A successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for working and nurturing youth.
Positions are available at various sites in Loudoun County. Applicants must be willing to work at multiple programming sites. Options are listed in the supplemental questions of the application.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead recreational program for children by following curriculum, complying with safety compliance standards, training, performance, and conflict resolution applications.
- Facilitate activities, group games, and reading time following curriculum plans and the needs of the children.
- Provide a welcoming and safe environment for children and assist with daily health checks, and handle food service items and emergency procedures.
- Other essential job duties relevant to the role and department may be required.
Please include all employment and volunteer experience working with or supervising children in childcare, recreation, and educational settings.
The CASA program operates Monday-Friday, 2:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m., and the YAS program operates Monday-Friday 3:15 pm - 6:15 pm, following the Loudoun County's Public School's academic (10 Months) year calendar.
Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; six (6) months of program experience with children.
Applicants with no experience can also be hired at a lower grade 108 in an After-School Aide position if meets the minimum requirement of 16 years of age. Options are listed in the supplemental questions of the application
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - One-year programmatic experience, including previous supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
- Skilled in using iPad, phone, and laptop.
Job Contingencies and Special Requirements- Must undergo pre-employment criminal background and fingerprinting checks.
- Prior to employment, individuals must have First Aid (Infant through Adult) and CPR certifications, or obtain them within 30 days of starting their job.
- Pass TB screening questions prior to hire and every two years thereafter.
- A sworn disclosure statement or affirmation must be completed, revealing any criminal convictions or pending criminal charges upon employment and every (5) years subsequently.
- Bilingual abilities are desirable.
Benefits elgibility for temporary employees are dependent on duration of assignment and number of scheduled hours.
