Location: Hybrid in Chesapeake , VA

Duration: 6 months and then converted Permanent


JOB DESCRIPTION

A client is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Project Engineer or Project Technician to join our team supporting defense-related projects. The candidate will report directly to the Sales Operations Manager and work closely with the Project Manager and defense sales team, ensuring the technical aspects of our projects are handled efficiently and in compliance with USA DoD CMMC requirements. Expertise in AutoCAD and 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks or Autodesk Fusion 360, along with a strong ability to interpret and understand technical specifications, is essential for success in this role.


Day-to-Day:

  • -Should be able to interpret a P&ID - (Piping and Instrumentation Diagram) from day 1 -Own/run mechanical takeoffs
  • - look at a drawing + interpret it to understand current state and drive towards milestone delivery
  • -Dig through archives and pick out 2D + 3D drawings and put it all together and put together a submittal to move onto the next milestone
  • -Primary responsibility is to own preparation of submittal packages for project milestones
  • -Report directly to the Sales Operations Manager, providing technical support for defense-related projects from inception to completion.
  • -Use AutoCAD and 3D modeling software (SolidWorks, Autodesk Fusion 360) to create detailed designs, models, and technical drawings for defense-related projects.
  • -Assist in reviewing and interpreting technical requirements from complex defense contracts, ensuring project designs and technical deliverables comply with specifications and contractual obligations.
  • -Prepare and update project documentation, including engineering drawings, technical specifications, and reports.
  • -Analyze and interpret written technical specifications, ensuring that the design and project deliverables align with customer requirements.
  • -Support the development of technical solutions for defense projects, ensuring compliance with USA DoD CMMC requirements.
  • -Coordinate with engineering and design teams to refine designs, optimize performance, and resolve any technical issues.
  • -Provide technical support to the Sales Operations Manager, Project Manager, and other stakeholders as needed. -Monitor project progress and provide updates on design and technical work, ensuring that timelines are met and issues are flagged early.
  • -Assist in preparing reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders


Compensation: $35/hour to $45/hour

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Employees in this role will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package starting on day one of employment, including options for medical, dental, and vision insurance.


Eligibility to enroll in the 401(k) retirement plan begins after 90 days of employment. Additionally, employees in this role will have access to paid sick leave and other paid time off benefits as required under the applicable law of the worksite location.


REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • -Associates degree in Engineering Technology, Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent technical experience.
  • -Proven experience (3+ years) using AutoCAD and 3D modeling software (SolidWorks, Autodesk Fusion 360).
  • -Strong understanding of technical drawings, engineering documentation, and specifications.
  • -Familiarity with USA DoD CMMC (Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification) requirements is highly desirable.
  • -Experience in reviewing, interpreting, and working with complex contracts, particularly in the defense or capital goods sectors.
  • -Ability to work effectively under the direction of the Sales Operations Manager and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
  • -Proficient in the use of engineering software and project management tools

  • -Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • -Familiarity with defense industry standards and requirements, particularly those related to DoD projects.
  • -Knowledge of defense procurement processes and contract structures.
  • -Familiarity with project management software.
