Description

Position Summary

The Assistant Director of Hotel Sales supports the Director of Sales in driving revenue growth and managing the sales team. This role focuses on executing sales strategies, building client relationships, and achieving revenue goals for group, transient, and catering sales. The Assistant Director also plays a key role in mentoring the sales team and ensuring the effective implementation of marketing and sales initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Sales Leadership and Strategy Execution

  • Assist in developing and executing the hotel's overall sales and marketing strategies to maximize revenue and market share.
  • Identify and target key market segments to achieve business objectives.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Sales to create and implement sales plans, promotions, and initiatives.
  • Monitor sales performance and provide regular updates to the Director of Sales, General Manager, and other stakeholders.

Client Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients to drive repeat business and secure new accounts.
  • Participate in client meetings, site visits, and sales presentations.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements to ensure favorable terms for the hotel while meeting client needs.

Team Supervision and Development

  • Provide support and guidance to the sales team, assisting with training, goal setting, and performance evaluation.
  • Act as a mentor to junior sales team members, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment.
  • Step into leadership responsibilities in the Director of Sales' absence.

Market Analysis and Reporting

  • Conduct market research to identify trends, competitor performance, and new business opportunities.
  • Analyze sales data to evaluate performance and recommend adjustments to strategies as needed.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations for leadership, highlighting sales achievements and opportunities for improvement.

Collaboration and Coordination

  • Work closely with other departments, including Revenue Management, Operations, and Catering, to ensure alignment on business objectives.
  • Partner with the marketing team to create promotional materials and campaigns that support sales efforts.
  • Assist with planning and executing special events, trade shows, and industry functions to enhance the hotel's visibility.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Skills

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business, Marketing, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in hotel sales, with a proven track record of achieving sales goals.
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong understanding of sales principles, hotel operations, and revenue management.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in sales and marketing tools, including CRM systems, property management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
