Overview

Solicit and book group sales business for the assigned segment(s) meeting weekly/monthly sales booking goals. The EMM is responsible for promptly managing a high volume of inquiries, both telephone and outside sales calls, generating site inspections, and booking all group-related business of 25 room nights or more. This includes, but is not limited to, corporate, local volume accounts, SMERF, relocation, government, military, training, and local demand generator sourced business (e.g., hospitals, schools, nursing, and catering facilities).

Responsibilities

  1. Understand the target market segment(s) and sales plan (by segment, year, and month) for achieving the established sales booking goal.
  2. Upsell clients with themes, décor, menu selection, space planning beyond the contracted food and beverage minimum to enhance the guest experience.
  3. Establish lead sources for each target market segment and develop solicitation plans to meet weekly sales activity quotas: calls, site visits, and outside calls.
  4. Report progress punctually and proactively with the Director of Sales and Marketing on planned and actual activities during daily pre-shift, 1-on-1 meetings, and daily business reviews.
  5. Follow the steps in the Group Sales Operating Plans to set up customer profiles, record solicitation activities, and prepare contracts in the CRM system.
  6. Use Selective Sell Guidelines, rates, dates, space, and menus approved during Daily Business Review when extending sales contracts to clients.
  7. Elevate any nonstandard or post-sale requests to the DOSM for review and approval.
  8. Cultivate sales relationships with contacts identified as realistic sources of business and utilize sales and marketing entertainment funds effectively.
  9. Participate in Gold Key/PHR or franchise-related sales programs, including responding to brand-generated leads.
  10. Prepare and distribute accurate and timely Banquet Event Orders (BEOs).
  11. Attend Daily Business Review meetings to present new business for approval.
  12. Actively participate in sales presentations, property tours, and customer meetings.
  13. Represent the hotel professionally in the community, at industry organizations and events, and while entertaining clients.
  14. Lead special projects and other responsibilities as assigned, including participating in task forces and committees as requested.

Qualifications

Job Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in sales or hotel operations within an upscale full-service hotel environment.
  • Sound interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Some college education required.
