We are recruiting an experienced Backend Engineer to build and maintain the infrastructure that powers an AI-driven platform. Role Overview

As a Backend Software Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the server-side infrastructure that powers our maintenance intelligence platform. You'll work across our entire technical stack, from API development to DevOps, ensuring our systems are scalable, secure, and performant. This is a hands-on role in a small, collaborative team where your contributions will directly impact our product and users.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs using Django Rest Framework and FastAPI
• Build and optimize backend services that support our AI/ML pipelines and real-time data processing
• Implement and maintain WebSocket connections for real-time communications
• Manage cloud infrastructure across Azure Government and Google Cloud Platform environments
• Design and implement CI/CD pipelines to streamline our development and deployment processes
• Collaborate with AI/ML engineers to modify and improve existing model inference pipelines
• Implement security controls and work towards zero-trust architecture principles
• Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize for scalability
• Participate in code reviews and architectural decisions
• Work closely with Flutter developers to ensure seamless frontend-backend integration
• Take ownership of DevOps tasks including deployment automation, monitoring, and incident response

Requirements:

• US citizenship is mandatory
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• 4+ years of backend development experience with Python
• Strong proficiency in Django Rest Framework and/or FastAPI
• Experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs at scale
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure and/or GCP preferred)
• Solid understanding of DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes)
• Familiarity with real-time communication protocols ( WebSockets )
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases
• Strong understanding of software security best practices
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across functional teams

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Azure Government Cloud or other government cloud environments
• Knowledge of zero-trust security architectures
• Experience supporting AI/ML infrastructure and model deployment pipelines
• Familiarity with aviation, aerospace, defense, or manufacturing industries
• Understanding of ITAR compliance or other security frameworks
• Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
• Knowledge of message queuing systems (RabbitMQ, Kafka)
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools
