POSITION TITLE: STAFF ACCOUNTANT REPORTS TO: GRANTS MANAGER
OVER-TIME STATUS: NON-EXEMPT PAY GRADE: 416A
JOB SUMMARY:
Performs intermediate-level clerical and technical tasks related to preparing and maintaining Grant Fund accounts payable, the general ledger, or related financial records.
Work is performed under regular supervision of the Grants Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
• Prepare and maintain complex accounting, general ledger, and other
financial records.
• Prepare and maintain accurate payroll records and employee files. Assist with grant funded travel records for accuracy.
• Prepare and maintain accounts payable records.
• Prepares daily deposits and journal entries as needed.
• Prepares monthly reimbursements via OMEGA to state and/or other agencies.
• Prepares monthly budget/actual reports for accurate spend down with departments.
• Review Grant requisitions and determine accuracy for approval by Grant Manager.
• Prepare and maintain accurate records for the annual Impact Aid survey and correspond with school personnel regarding matters as it pertains to the survey.
• Assist Grant Accountant and Grant Manager as needed with various tasks
• Prepares, reviews and codes Personnel Transaction Records (PTR) for processing for Grant funded activities
• Performs related tasks as required.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Thorough knowledge of the accounts payable and general ledger systems and procedures; general knowledge of bookkeeping terminology and methods; general knowledge of standard office procedures, practices and equipment; general knowledge of routine accounting principles; ability to maintain financial records and to prepare reports and statements; ability to make arithmetical computations quickly and accurately; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
This is sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects; work requires stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, fingering, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required: Bachelor Degree from regional accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field. 3 to 5 years of general ledger and grant accounting experience preferred. MUNIS ERP preferred.
