Join Our Team as an Electrician II
Are you passionate about keeping things running smoothly and lighting up your community-literally? We're looking for a skilled Electrician II to join our Parks & Recreation team. In this role, you'll handle a wide variety of electrical and electromechanical systems across parks, recreational facilities, athletic fields, community centers, and municipal grounds. From everyday repairs to holiday light shows and special events, your work will make a visible difference in the places where our community gathers, plays, and celebrates.
What You'll Do:
 -  Troubleshoot and Repair: Evaluate and repair electrical and lighting systems, irrigation controls, and electromechanical equipment at parks, fields, aquatic centers, parking lots, picnic shelters, and more.
-  Plan and Install: Lead new installations and system upgrades, estimating materials, costs, and labor, and developing work schedules.
-  Supervise Contractors: Assign, inspect, and evaluate the work of contractual staff on electrical, lighting, and irrigation projects.
-  Preventive Maintenance: Schedule and perform regular maintenance to keep systems running safely and efficiently.
-  Technical Work: Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, specifications, manuals, and sketches to guide work and ensure accuracy.
-  Safety & Compliance: Ensure all work meets safety standards, electrical and building codes, and engineering requirements.
-  Administrative Duties: Maintain logs, work orders, purchase orders, and records; assist with budgets, reporting, and tracking parts and materials.
-  Support the Team: Assist with event setup, grounds maintenance, trash disposal, and other operational tasks as needed.
-  Professional Growth: Attend meetings, trainings, and seminars to stay up to date with industry best practices.

Required Qualifications Vocational/Educational Requirement: Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to an associate's degree in the electrical trade or a closely related field. 
Experience:In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this class requires a minimum of four years of related, full-time equivalent experience.
Special Certifications and Licenses: Requires a valid driver's license and a driving record that is in compliance with 
City Driving Standards . Depending on assignment, may require a Commercial Driver's License ( CDL ) with additional endorsements. Supervisory positions require a Journeyman or Master Electrician license. Non-supervisory positions require a Master Electrician license.
Special Requirements: Performance of essential functions may require exposure to confined spaces. Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. Emergency operations support work and work locations may be outside of normal job duties.
Preferred Qualifications Ability to read and understand drawings and simple to complicated plans in the maintenance of facilities.
Basic computer skills and ability to write, read and use a calculator.
Customer service experience.
