POSITIONSUMMARY
The ChiefFinancial Officer (CFO) is a key member of the executive leadership teamresponsible for overseeing the agency's financial and support servicesoperations. This Executive position directs the organization's supportfunctions in accordance with generally accepted accounting principlesestablished by FASB and GASB, as well as other applicable regulatorystandards and sound financial management practices. The CFO providesstrategic leadership in finance, human resources, and information systems toensure organizational integrity, efficiency, and compliance. This roleoversees budgeting, reporting, audits, grants management, and policyimplementation, while supervising multidisciplinary staff to support theorganization's mission and long-term sustainability.
GENERALPURPOSE
The Chief Financial Officer serves as a strategic partner to the ChiefExecutive Officer and executive leadership team, providing financial insightand guidance that drive organizational priorities and growth. Reportingdirectly to the CEO, this is a hands-on leadership role responsible for bothhigh-level strategic planning and day-to-day financial management. The CFOensures accurate and timely reporting to the Board and stakeholders, overseesbudgeting and planning processes, and maintains internal controls andcompliance standards. Through active engagement with staff and operations,the CFO strengthens financial systems, leads support functions, and ensuresthat resources are effectively managed to sustain the agency's mission andservice to the community.
POSITIONRESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as a strategic partner to the CEO andleadership team, providing coaching and guidance to department directors infinancial management, human resources practices, and data integrity to buildorganizational capacity, strengthen accountability, and support informed,mission-driven decision making.
- Oversee the preparation and presentation oftimely, accurate financial reports, ensuring clear communication of monthlyand annual statements, coordination of financial reporting for all fundersegments, and effective management of all financial, programmatic, and grantaccounting activities.
- Communicate and present criticalfinancial matters to the Board of Directors, leading the annual auditprocess, coordinating with external auditors and the Finance and AuditCommittees, assessing needed changes, participating in bi-monthly FinanceCommittee meetings, and providing accurate, timely financial reports tosupport informed governance decisions.
- Lead the annual budgeting and planning process inpartnership with the CEO, overseeing the development, review, andadministration of all financial plans and budgets, monitoring progress andvariances, and keeping the senior leadership team informed of theorganization's financial position.
- Update and implement businesspolicies and accounting practices, enhancing the department's overall policyand procedure manual to ensure consistency, compliance, and operationalefficiency.
- Maintain and strengthen the agency's contractsand financial management systems, ensuring timely billing and collections,accurate financial reporting, and steady cash flow to support ongoingoperational needs.
- Provide leadership and oversight to the agency'sFinance, Human Resources, Information Systems and Data Management staff,ensuring effective operations, collaboration, and accountability across allfunctions to support organizational goals and informed decision making.

ESSENTIALSKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Accounting or related field. MBAor CPA preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive senior management or executive-levelexperience with demonstrated leadership in finance and administration,preferably in the nonprofit sector. Proven responsibility for the quality,accuracy, and integrity of all financial data, reporting, and auditcoordination processes, along with broad operational experience overseeingfunctions such as human resources, information systems, and organizationalpolicy development.
- Knowledge: Comprehensiveunderstanding of Federal and State compliance regulations, with proficiencyin accounting and financial reporting software; experience with Blackbaud isa plus.
- Skills: Excellent communication andrelationship-building abilities with a proven capacity to prioritize,negotiate, and collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholders. Skilled at translating financial concepts for programmatic and fundraisingstaff to support effective cross-functional understanding and collaboration.

- Preferred experience includes managingfederal, state, or foundation grants with compliance and reportingresponsibilities; collaborating on fundraising and donor relations;contributing to strategic planning and engaging with nonprofit boards;leading organizational improvement or modernization efforts; and effectivelycommunicating with diverse audiences while maintaining active involvement incivic or professional organizations that enhance community partnerships.

Physical Demands: While performing theduties of this position, the employee is occasionally required to stand,walk, sit, stoop, or reach with hands and arms. Normal hearing ability (with orwithout electronic assistance) and the ability to speak and understandEnglish are required. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, andperipheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment: This position operatesprimarily in an office setting with minimal noise and frequent interactionwith staff, leadership, and external partners. Occasional exposure to weatherconditions may occur during travel or off-site meetings. A hybrid workarrangement may be available based on organizational needs and performanceexpectations, though regular on-site presence is required for leadership,collaboration, and operational oversight. The standard work schedule isMonday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional evening orweekend hours required for board meetings, events, or special projects. Sometravel is required, including local, regional, and national trips formeetings, conferences, and professional representation.
