The City of Virginia Beach Economic Development is recruiting a Town Center Planning Evaluation Coordinator to manage the funds associated with Town Center, coordinate project tasks, and manage long-term maintenance plans within Town Center.
Duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
• Track, manage and report various funds associated with Town Center and various economic development incentives to ensure agreement obligations are met and properly budgeted and planned.
• Lead, coordinate and manage various professional planning, development and building projects as well as maintenance, initiatives and tasks within Town Center.
• Prepare project budgets, presentations and reports; track project milestones and schedules; coordinate with project managers in other departments as well as consultants and contractors.
• Act as the City liaison with various community stakeholders and business groups associated with Town Center and the Central Business District Association.
• Liaison with the City of Virginia Beach Parking Management, Department of Public Works, and Landscape Management Division.
• Facilitate and provide clear and concise oral, visual, and written presentations for senior leaders, council, and other executive level stakeholders concerning requests, recommendations and comments from the Town Center stakeholder community.
• Respond to complaints regarding Town Center and make recommendations for alleviating problems.
• Drive strategic planning efforts for Town Center funds to ensure consistent messaging with community stakeholder groups and ensure the funds can accommodate future opportunities that may arise.
• Assist in the review of development-related applications, plans, and proposals for compliance with Town Center standards and other related projects as applicable.
• Supervise staff focused in the Town Center area; train, monitor and evaluate staff performance.
• Perform other job duties requiring skills, knowledge and physical requirements as demanded by those duties described or less. Individual assignments will be determined by the supervisor based on then current workloads and department needs.

A collaborative multidisciplinary team of planners, landscape architects, urban designers and business attraction professionals utilize innovative land use planning, design, transportation, parking, marketing and financial tools to achieve this mission and work on a number of infrastructure and development projects to create places of sustained community value.
The Project Development Division oversees the Economic and Tourism Development portion of the City's Capital Improvement Program as well as the City of Virginia Beach Development Authority's business parks and assets. Minimum Requirements:
MINIMUMS: Requires a Bachelor's degree in City Planning, Public Administration, Business Administration, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Engineering or a related field and six (6) years of experience utilizing the required knowledge, skills and abilities in areas such as project management, special projects and initiatives and strategic planning OR combination of education and experience equivalent to ten (10) years.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.

Preferences:
Master's degree in City Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Engineering, Urban Design, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related degree.
Budget tracking, management, and planning experience
Project management, special project development and strategic planning experience
Public presentation experience with community stakeholder groups
Experience with facility and grounds management, operations and maintenance
Supervisory experience
Experience preparing presentations, publications and reports
