A leading international defense and technology consultancy is seeking a Data Science & AI Data Scientist to join its advanced analytics team in Norfolk, VA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in AI engineering, machine learning, and distributed data systems, with the ability to design and deploy scalable data-driven solutions for global organizations. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to strategic projects that leverage large language models (LLMs) and advanced analytics to support innovation at an international scale.

Role

  • ???? Develop and implement scalable data science and AI solutions, including LLM-based applications.
  • ⚙️ Design and maintain data pipelines, APIs, and cloud-based architectures to support AI and ML workflows.
  • ???? Preprocess, clean, and transform structured and unstructured datasets for model training and inference.
  • ???? Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, and system architects to operationalize AI/ML systems.
  • ☁️ Deploy containerized microservices and distributed data systems on platforms such as AWS or Azure.
  • ???? Conduct research to enhance data accessibility, infrastructure performance, and AI integration.
  • ???? Provide technical guidance and mentorship to cross-functional teams on data science and AI best practices.
  • ???? Support innovation and transformation initiatives within a complex, multinational environment.

Requirements

  • ???? Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Data Science, Computer Science, AI Engineering, or related field.
  • ???? 4+ years of hands‑on experience as a Data Scientist, ML Engineer, or Data Engineer.
  • ???? Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or Scala with experience in TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
  • ???? Experience with API development, ETL pipelines, and real-time streaming using tools like Airflow, Kafka, or Spark.
  • ☁️ Proven expertise with cloud‑based architectures (AWS, Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • ???? Solid understanding of data privacy, security, and governance principles in enterprise or government environments.
  • ???? Ability to translate analytical results into actionable insights for non‑technical stakeholders.
  • ???? Strong communication, problem‑solving, and collaboration skills in multidisciplinary teams.
  • ???? Eligible for or holding NATO or National Secret security clearance.
