As a Border Protection Officer, you will be integral to our workforce that protects the American populace by ensuring border security, deterring illicit activities, and fostering economic prosperity. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Enforcing customs, immigration, and agricultural laws.

  • Conducting thorough inspections of individuals and vehicles.

Salary and Benefits Overview:

New recruits may receive up to a $15,000 yearly recruitment incentive for specific locations. The base salary for newly appointed Officers ranges from $40,332 to $109,952 annually, varying by grade level and residency.

After training, qualified Officers can earn up to $45,000 in overtime each year. Our structured career path allows for progress through grades GS-5 to GS-12, with promotions available after 52 weeks in each grade.

Qualifications:

To qualify for GS-5:

  • Three years of full-time general work experience demonstrating the ability to work with people and learn legal facts; or
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; or
  • A combination of education and experience.

For GS-7:

  • One year of specialized work experience equivalent to GS-5; or
  • A bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement; or
  • A combination of specialized experience and graduate education.

Other Important Requirements:

  • Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Residency: Must be a primary U.S. resident for at least three of the past five years.
  • Age Requirement: Candidates must be appointed before their 40th birthday unless otherwise eligible.

Training Requirements:

All recruits are required to complete a paid pre-academy orientation followed by a comprehensive 101-day training program at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, GA.
