Performs precision fusion welding and torch brazing on aircraft, aerospace components, and ground support equipment in accordance with Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), engineering drawings, and national/military welding codes. Responsible for producing flight-critical welds on materials such as aluminum, magnesium, stainless steel, low-alloy steel, and nickel alloys. The role includes fabricating parts from drawings, selecting proper filler materials and shielding gases, developing and supporting WPS documentation, controlling weld sequence to minimize distortion, performing pre- and post-heat treatments, designing fixtures, and maintaining weld records. May also inspect welds, train less experienced welders, and support re-certification efforts.
