WCBay's Security department is a dedicated, service-focused team that works hard to keep the campus safe, secure, and welcoming for everyone. As a visible and trusted presence, they support residents, families, staff, and visitors while encouraging a culture of preparedness, accountability, and care. The Campus Safety and Security Officer requires contact with the residents, their family members, team members and guests and visitors on campus. Very often the first interaction with guests and visitors, as well as the first responders for emergency calls. Performs security related responsibilities which includes conducting patrols of all buildings and grounds on and around campus and WCCB premises. Secures campus to ensure those not authorized are kept off the premises, and those who are permitted on campus have been properly screened and have the IDs visible while on campus. Responds to medical emergencies, and other emergencies on campus. Responsible for managing patrol parking on WCCB premises, enforcing parking policies, including managing violations, i.e., writing tickets, booting cars and managing towing [as authorized]. What You'll Do In This Role - Must know and understand the procedures for fire emergencies, fire department arrival and assistance and evacuation of residents and HCC/ALC patients.
- As part of normal patrolling, you must understand basic operations of boilers, chillers, pumps, and emergency diesel generators to be able to stop and start a shift in an emergency. Know locations of temperature and pressure gauges in kitchen and mechanical spaces to record daily readings.
- Performs minor maintenance functions as deemed necessary or assigned by the supervisor.
- Provides assistance to the Fire department when summoned.
- Must be familiar with disaster plans for hurricanes, tornados, bomb threats, flooding, etc.
- Must manage the handling and reporting of safety violations and mechanical problems.
- Must understand the proper procedure and call signs for portable radio communications.
- Must have contact supervisory and key maintenance personnel when necessary, and know and understand the procedures for rescue managing anyone trapped in an elevator.
- All other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements - Must be able to dead lift 50 lbs., and walk 50 feet
- Must be able to climb fourteen stories of stairs.
- Must be able to walk the campus, 5 to 7 miles per shift, regardless of weather conditions
The Experience You'll BringRequired: - High School Graduate or Equivalent
- Must be 21 years of age
- Current valid driver's license
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft and Google applications.
- Be able to remain on campus during inclement weather, i.e. hurricanes, snow storms, etc.
- Must be CPR certified and be able to perform CPR
- Available and willing to work holidays and weekends
- Flu vaccinated
Preferred: - Previous security experience
- COVID-19 Vaccinated. As of now, the 2025-2026 COVID-19 vaccine formulation is being distributed to providers and pharmacies; however, it has not yet received official approval from the CDC. In Virginia, pharmacists may administer COVID-19 vaccines under the Virginia Board of Pharmacy's statewide protocols or with a direct order from a licensed medical provider. Compensation & Benefits - Compensation : $18.17/hr - $21.35/hr
