Job Details

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Must be able to fulfill all functions and duties of a Special Facility Lifeguard
• Work lifeguard shifts as needed
• Support aquatics and supervisory team members
• Respond to calls from Aquatic team members
• Perform zone walk through and ensure zones are maintained to park standards related to both aquatic safety and park cleanliness
• Assist supervisors with conducting in-service trainings
• Assist and conduct department trainings
• Assist supervisors in performing Vigilance Awareness Testing (VAT), mid-season scanning and mid-season CPR testing.
• Conduct slide walking and safety inspections
• Communicate effectively with team members, other lead guards, supervisors, and leadership
• Ability to properly and safely operate equipment used
• Knowledge of standard of care in aquatic industry
• Supervise guest experience to ensure excellent customer service is provided by the aquatic staff
• Ensure Lifeguards follow park policies and procedures
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment for customers and other team members
• Provide superior customer service to all customers in a polite and expedient manner
• Assist customers with questions regarding Ocean Breeze Waterpark
• Follow park policies and procedures
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 16 years of age or older
• Minimum one year lifeguarding experience
• Experience working as a deep guard preferred
• Record of punctuality and infrequent call outs
• Ability to accept guidance and supervision
• Demonstrate ability to work independently
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, team members, and leadership
• Be aware, attentive, and work well with others
• Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions while taking precautions, including hydration and sun-protection

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to swim 200 yards using front crawl (freestyle) or breaststroke without resting
• Must be able to perform a feet-first surface dive, retrieve a 10-lb. brick, and bring it to the surface
• Must be able to tread water without using arms for 2 minutes
• Must have 20/25 corrected vision
• Must have hearing and speech, manual and bi-manual dexterity, fine and gross motor skills, and eye/hand coordination
• Must be able to get in and out of a pool without a ladder
• Must be comfortable jumping in water from varying heights
• Ability to climb stairs
• Must be able to respond to situations quickly, to include running to various locations around the park.
• Must be able to sit, stand or walk for extended periods of time
