Overview

The M.C. Dean, Inc. Maritime Division operates worldwide from regional offices in Chesapeake, VA, and San Diego, CA. We are seeking skilled Welders to join our Alteration Installation Teams, playing a critical role in supporting C4ISR system installations on ships and submarines. Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Two to three years of applicable welding experience
  • ASNT NDT Level III Certification or relevant experience
  • One additional relevant technical certification, such as AWS Certified Welding Supervisor or AWS Certified Weld Inspector

Skills and Proficiencies:

  • Ability to read and interpret specifications
  • Proficient in understanding shipboard installation drawings, blueprints, and job orders
  • Experience with ARC and gas welding equipment for fabricating and repairing a variety of products
  • Welding skills in all positions across various metals and alloys
  • Proficient in gas welding, brazing, and arc welding processes
  • Capable of performing thermal cutting and grinding
  • Ability to repair broken parts and modify metal components efficiently
  • Supervisory and leadership abilities

Safety and Physical Requirements:

  • Occupation Safety Haz-Mat Certification
  • Shipyard Competent Person Certification
  • Aloft/Climbing/Climbing Shipyard Stairs and Ladders Certification
  • Working in Confined Spaces Certification
  • Ability to safely lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs

Security and Work Locations:

  • Primary work locations include San Diego, CA, and Norfolk, VA, with potential travel to other shipyards and Navy ports, both domestic and international
  • Must be a US citizen eligible for clearance
  • Successful background investigation required
  • A valid driver's license is necessary

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Willingness to work overtime as needed
  • Responsible for maintaining and safeguarding company equipment and tools
  • Organize and manage welding inventory effectively
  • Schedule welding jobs to ensure timely completion

Physical Requirements:

  • Lift up to 100 pounds and carry 60 pounds for extended periods
  • Relocate a 12-foot stepladder without assistance
  • Work at heights up to 60 feet, maintaining balance on various equipment
  • Engage in physical activities such as climbing, lifting, squatting, and reaching regularly
  • Possess good vision and hearing capabilities, able to communicate effectively in English
  • Identify issues and apply general rules to solve problems
  • Analyze information to form conclusions
  • Pay attention to details
  • Listen and understand verbal instructions
