Position Overview:

As a Journeyman Welder, you will leverage your knowledge of welding procedures and blueprint interpretation while adhering to rigorous safety standards. You will work with various welding processes including SMAW, FCAW, and GTAW, ensuring all welds meet the necessary codes and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Execute welding tasks in heavy industrial environments.
• Utilize proper techniques to produce high-quality welds.
• Read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols accurately.
• Safely set up and operate welding equipment.
• Conduct welding using SMAW, FCAW (automatic), and GTAW processes.
• Adhere to OSHA safety regulations and site-specific requirements.
• Maintain accurate documentation for welding activities and inspections.
• Work efficiently while upholding craftsmanship and safety standards.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Minimum six (6) years of verifiable welding experience in heavy industrial applications.
• Experience in shipbuilding, power plant construction, bridge construction, or commercial building construction.
• Proficient in Submerged Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Flux-Core Automatic Welding (FCAW), and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW).
• Strong knowledge of welding best practices and quality control standards.
• Skilled in blueprint reading and interpreting welding symbols.
• Experience with grinding equipment.
• OSHA 10 and/or OSHA 30 certification required.
• High School Diploma, Vocational School Diploma, or GED required.
• Completion of a formal welding training program is preferred.
• U.S. Citizen with an active or eligible Secret Security Clearance.

Work Environment:

This role requires working in industrial or shipyard settings with physically demanding conditions, including confined spaces and variable temperatures. Comfort in these situations, alongside adherence to quality and production standards, is expected.
