This includes the areas of staffing, budgets, and efficient caseload processing (records, personnel, financial management, and public relations). The Chief Deputy assists the Clerk in monitoring caseload processing to ensure compliance with statutory requirements; to meet the needs of the court, other criminal justice agencies, and the public; and to foster sound management principles.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesThe most ideal applicant will lead, plan and coordinate the supervision of the clerk's office employees and the management team. Will assist with the training of supervisors and report to the Clerk on their progress. The Chief Deputy may be called upon in the absence of supervisors to direct day-to-day operations. Possess the ability to demonstrate efficient case processing methods. Will be monitoring case flow within the courtrooms, handle citizen complaints and referrals from divisions. In the Clerk's absence, sign court documents related to purchasing, vouchers for payment, or other documents requiring official signature, edit letters and memoranda requiring official response by the Clerk. Serve as Court's Worker's Compensation/Risk Management contact and process injury claims, process FIOA requests, serve as ADA coordinator. Will ensure compliance with EEO guidelines. Will perform reference checks for potential new hires, will offer position and coordinate offer letter and starting date with the Human Resources Department, will review position description and revise as needed. Will process facility repair and work requests, process repair and work requests for telephone. Assume any additional responsibilities other than those primarily assigned to the position as required by management.Minimum QualificationsThe most competitive candidates will possess:Preferred QualificationsKnowledge and proven hands-on experience in managing and supervising court employees and supervisors is highly preferred. The ideal candidate will have proven ability and experience, a history of training, and direct supervisory skills. Possess advanced customer service experience in dealing with the general public, external agencies, attorney firms, and other courts. Competitive applicants must demonstrate outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Candidates having proficiency in using computer systems, advanced experience with Case Management System (GCMS) and Financial Management System (FAS), Microsoft applications, and Outlook are preferred.A high school degree or equivalent is required; a college degree and court/legal environment experience are highly preferred.
