ClassSummary
Assists in receiving, issuing and taking inventories of canteen items, equipment and supplies.
Representative Work Functions and Responsibilities
- Order store items from various vendors throughout the week
- Receive orders from vendors
- Use of Point of Sales system software for various tasks, Microsoft Programs, and various vendor programs/applications.
- Assist supervisor(s) with various tasks and special assignments related to the Food Services Department
- Perform maintenance functions in storeroom area.
Performance Standards- Maintain accurate receipt and inventory records;
- courteously deal with vendors, other appointees, and City employees;
- maintain storeroom area in a safe and clean manner and proper order;
- provide security for the area while on duty.
- Able to use Point of Sale System, must be able to work at a functional level with Microsoft Office and Excel programs.
- Able to use vendor websites to place and track orders, returns, and credits.
Perform other job duties requiring skills, knowledge and physical requirements as demanded by those duties described or less. Individual assignments will be determined by the supervisor based on the current workloads and department needs.
Minimum QualificationsHigh school or GED plus six (6) months experience in inventory control methods providing the required knowledge, skills and abilities; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Must have, or obtain, a current and valid Virginia or North Carolina driver's license in accordance with Virginia of North Carolina DMV driver's license eligibility requirements.
Special RequirementsAll appointees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.
