Duties

  • Recommend quality improvements to shop management based on lessons learned from audits, investigation analysis, and special studies results.
  • Prepare various monthly/quarterly reports.
  • Ensure safe work practices are followed.
  • Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work.
  • Conduct internal program, process and ship overhaul audits to identify quality problems and opportunities for improvements.
  • Review training materials and conduct quality assurance training classes for employees of the Service group.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Experience applying production trade work and technical methods, procedures, materials, and processes associated with the repair and overhaul of complex Navy vessels, with a specialized knowledge of electrical/electronic practices and operations.
  • Experience applying quality assurance concepts, principles, and methodology to develop an effective shipyard quality assurance program.
  • Experience applying audit, investigative and analysis methods and techniques.
  • Experience applying knowledge of basic ship types, configurations and systems.
