Cherry Bekaert is partnered with a publicly traded manufacturing company to identify a senior tax leader for their team in Norfolk, Virginia. This is a highly visible, on‑site opportunity (5 days per week) offering leadership responsibility, strategic impact, and strong compensation.

Compensation

$180,000–$190,000 base salary plus a 25% bonus

About the Role

This role will lead key components of the organization's U.S. tax function, overseeing a small team and working closely with senior leadership. The position is responsible for tax compliance oversight, tax planning initiatives, and support of M&A and other transactions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the internal tax team, providing guidance, mentorship, and oversight
• Oversee corporate tax compliance activities, including coordination with external providers
• Drive tax planning strategies aligned with business objectives and growth initiatives
• Support mergers, acquisitions, and other transactions, including tax structuring and due diligence
• Partner with senior leadership and cross‑functional teams as a trusted tax advisor
• Ensure adherence to applicable tax laws, regulations, and internal controls

Required Qualifications

• Significant progressive experience in corporate tax, including compliance and planning
• Prior experience managing or mentoring staff
• Strong technical tax knowledge with the ability to operate at both strategic and hands‑on levels
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with senior stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

• Big 4 public accounting experience, or a blend of public accounting and corporate tax experience
• Experience supporting M&A and complex transactions
• Background working in a large, complex, or publicly traded organization
