Customer Service Representative

The City of Portsmouth Public Works is seeking a professional and customer-focused Customer Service Representative to join our team. This role is responsible for providing high-quality service to residents and visitors by addressing inquiries, resolving concerns, and supporting departmental operations.

Responsibilities include:

• Responding to customer inquiries via phone, email, and in person in a timely and professional manner
• Providing accurate information regarding city services, programs, and procedures
• Assisting residents with requests, forms, and service-related issues
• Documenting customer interactions and maintaining records in internal systems
• Resolving complaints or escalating issues to the appropriate department when necessary
• Maintaining a positive and helpful attitude while delivering excellent customer service

Qualifications include:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Previous customer service or administrative experience preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, data entry systems)
• Ability to multitask and manage time effectively
• Professional demeanor and problem-solving skills
